Client

An online retailer of woodworking machinery, tools, spare parts, and components for furniture manufacturing equipment.

Why the Client Chose Us

Our partnership with the client dates back to 2023, when we first supported the website update and later continued with its SEO promotion in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the client was already planning to enter international markets. That’s why we recommended switching from a .com.ua domain to .com from the very start of the project to avoid potential limitations as the business expanded.

When the company expanded into the Czech market, it turned to Aweb to promote this new direction. The reason was quite simple: we had already proven our expertise through our work on the Ukrainian version of the site. We delivered consistent organic traffic growth and helped the site recover its search rankings after a downturn.

Our Goal

The client’s primary goal was to expand the company’s presence internationally.

As part of this effort, we focused on growing the site’s organic visibility in the Czech market to:

  • drive more organic traffic from the Czech market;
  • improve the site’s visibility for priority search queries;
  • lay the foundation for sustainable organic sales growth.

Work Plan

At the start of the project, the Aweb team completed a set of foundational SEO tasks:

  • ensured the Czech-language version of the site was properly configured;
  • built a keyword set for the priority pages in Czech;
  • optimized the meta tags based on the target keyword set;
  • updated the content on key pages;
  • analyzed competitors and developed a link-building strategy;
  • researched the Czech SEO landscape;
  • started listing the company in relevant Czech business directories.

Key Aspects of SEO Promotion in the Czech Market

Local Search Engine

During the project audit, our team discovered that the site was already receiving organic traffic from both Google and the Czech search engine Seznam.cz. This was especially important to consider because Seznam uses its own ranking algorithms and differs from Google in several key SEO aspects.

After analyzing Seznam’s ranking factors, we developed a separate set of recommendations to improve the site’s visibility in this search engine. These included:

  • showing prices in Czech koruna (CZK) on the website;
  • registering the company in popular Czech business directories;
  • creating a separate company profile on Mapy.cz;
  • setting up Seznam Webmaster (reporter.seznam.cz) to monitor the site’s indexing in Seznam

This approach helped optimize the site for local search and unlock an additional source of organic traffic.

Machine Translation

At the start of the project, the Czech version of the site relied on machine translation. This could negatively affect SEO, as some keywords were translated inaccurately: they were close in meaning but did not match the terms Czech users actually searched for.

As a result, the pages became less aligned with search intent and less relevant to the target queries.

To address this issue, our team:

  • analyzed the search results;
  • analyzed competitors in the Czech market;
  • checked whether the product range aligned with actual search demand;
  • identified the keywords that most accurately described the products in each category;
  • optimized the content and meta tags based on the updated keyword set.

Once the changes were implemented, the pages started ranking for more relevant search queries, which improved their overall search visibility.

This case once again shows that simply translating a website isn’t enough when expanding into a new market. Effective SEO requires a clear understanding of the local language, market demand, and how users actually search.

Link-Building Strategy

After analyzing the backlink profiles of the main competitors, our team developed a separate link-building strategy tailored to the Czech market. The goal was to build a natural, relevant backlink profile that aligned with the local search landscape.

The strategy covered several key areas:

  • securing backlinks from relevant Czech websites;
  • creating company profiles in trusted local business directories;
  • securing backlinks from relevant furniture and woodworking forums.

To find high-quality directories, we used Ahrefs’ Content Explorer to identify topically relevant and authoritative websites

We searched for forums manually using industry-specific queries combined with the inurl:forum operator, which helped us identify active communities relevant to the project’s niche.

This approach allowed us to build the backlink profile gradually and naturally, avoiding sudden spikes in link growth and focusing on the quality and relevance of linking websites.

Results

We started seeing results soon after implementing the initial technical and content changes.

During the project, we achieved the following results:

  • organic sessions from the Czech market increased by 113.55%;
  • the number of keywords ranking in Google’s top 10 doubled

Further analysis in Google Search Console confirmed the positive trend in organic traffic and the gradual improvement in search visibility for priority categories.

Client Feedback

Building a presence in the Czech market from the ground up, the client understood from the very start that SEO would take time to deliver consistent results.

At the same time, the project was already gaining momentum early on: organic traffic increased, search visibility improved, and the first orders from the Czech market started coming in.

That’s why the client is happy with the progress to date and continues working with Aweb to grow the project further.

“We’re building our presence in the Czech market from the ground up, so we know it will take time. But we’re already seeing traffic grow and new orders coming in, which tells us we’re heading in the right direction.”

Conclusion

Entering a new market takes more than translating a website. Success depends on understanding the local search landscape, how people search, the language they use, and the competitive environment.

In this project, a comprehensive approach – from technical optimization and content localization to local link building and optimization for Czech platforms – started delivering noticeable results early on:

  • organic sessions from the Czech Republic increased by 113.55%;
  • the number of keywords ranking in the top 10 doubled;
  • visibility across priority categories improved;
  • a solid foundation was laid for scaling the project globally.
